Our Curriculum - Autumn 2021

At Heygarth Primary School, we believe that PSED (Personal, Social and Emotional Development) is the building blocks of future success in life and that good development of PSED is fundamental if children are to learn and achieve to their full potential, which is why PSED is at the heart of everything we do.

The foundations to our broad and balanced curriculum are the core values by which we teach: Resilience, Honesty, Courage, Determination, Readiness, Respect & Thoughtfulness

Driven by Heygarth's Core Values is an integrated thematic curriculum that links to the wider world of work, life-skills and learning outside of the classroom.  Our staff have created a curriculum for the children of Heygarth that is not only interesting and enjoyable but also relevant to them.

Across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, the children will cover 6 units each academic year.

Our curriculum for Autumn 2021 has been planned by teachers to take into account that many children were 'Remote Learning' at home during the Spring term 2021, due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic 'Lockdown', and that many children now have gaps in their learning that teachers are working exceptionally hard to make up. We have designed this curriculum taking into account the DfE guidance 'Teaching a broad and balanced curriculum for education recovery'.

Please find details below about the curriculum our children will learn about this term.
