Rights Respecting Schools

The Rights Respecting School Award promotes an awareness and realisation of children’s rights, not only for the children in our school (Rights Holders) but also the adults who care for them (Duty Bearers). It is about working together to make a positive impact in school and the wider community.

We are a Rights Respecting School!

Within school we are guided by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) where we look to embed these rights and values into our daily school life, policies and procedures. UNICEF protects and promotes these rights.

We are currently a Bronze: Rights Committed school working towards Silver: Rights Aware.

Some of the articles our children have found most relevant include:

I have the right to an education (article 28).

I have the right to share my opinions and for adults to listen to me (article 12).

I have the right to clean water and nutritious food (article 24).

I have the right not be discriminated against (article 2).
