School Direct - Teacher Training

Are you considering a career in teaching?

"Every child deserves a champion - an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection and insists that they become the best that they can possibly be."             Margaret Mead

 Will YOU be that champion?

  • Do you have a gift for inspiring others to learn?

  • Would you enjoy meeting the challenge of building the core skills of young children?

  • Would you like to train in a vibrant learning community with a curriculum derived from the very best of international practice?

Train with us!

Heygarth Primary School, in partnership with Deep Learning Teaching School Alliance consortium and Liverpool John Moores University, offers teacher training to graduates holding a 2:2 degree or above who are ready to engage in classroom based training; a rigorous pathway into this most rewarding profession.

Our Lady of Pity School, Greasby, is the lead school for our consortium of School Direct training schools, all of which are passionate about developing teaching and learning and are ideally placed to offer successful candidates an outstanding training opportunity.

Our consortium offers placements for Primary Teaching, Primary Teaching with a specialism in Early Years, Primary teaching with a specialism in Mathematics and Primary Teaching with a specialism in PE. All courses result in a Post Graduate Certificate in Education with 60 Masters credits.

Our training programme places you in the classroom to learn alongside successful, inspirational teachers who are passionate about their work and have a gift for developing these skills in others.  This one year training programme includes a six week placement in a contrasting school and offers you experience with infant and junior children.

Successful candidates will be given the opportunity to express a preference for their main placement school if they wish.
