This term, PE will take place on Tuesday (outdoors) and Friday (outdoors) and children should arrive in school wearing their PE kits.  Please ensure that your child is able to remove and put back on any trainers especially if they have laces.

Homework will be set on Wednesday for return the following Wednesday.  It will be sent home with your child. Homework will include English, maths and topic work.
If you have difficulty accessing google classroom please call the office or speak to your class teacher who will be able to help.

As we are approaching the colder weather, please ensure your child comes to school wearing the appropriate clothing.

Our topics in maths this term will include; ‘mass’, ‘temperature’ and ‘money’. The children will have the opportunity to understand key vocabulary relating to each topic. Throughout the mass topic, the children will be learning about mass in the context of kilograms and grams. They will learn how to read a scale, to compare the weight of different objects and to solve word problems relating to mass. The temperature topic will provide the pupils will gain experience in measuring temperature. They will learn about Celsius, how to read thermometers to help them understand, and they will look at the different kinds of temperatures we can measure. The topic on money will involve a review of concepts on writing and counting money in addition to extending their knowledge of how to represent money using £ and p. They will be reinforcing previous counting methods using fives and tens to count quickly and efficiently. They will be required to show equal amounts of money and how to exchange money. By the end of the unit, they will be using bar modelling to calculate the total amount of money spent and then working out how much change is required from amounts below £100.

Our upcoming topics are very important life skills for your child to acquire, we encourage discussion of these topics at home as much as possible. If you are able to, please encourage your child to use their numbots and TT rockstars accounts which will really help to develop their knowledge and skills across these two subjects. If you don’t have your child’s login please speak to their class teacher.

Halibut Jackson is shy. He would prefer not to be noticed at all. But he loves to make his own suits, especially suits that help him blend into the background: He has a flowered suit for the park, a book-patterned suit for the library, and a fruit-adorned suit for the shops. But mostly he stays indoors. When Halibut’s invited to a party at the palace, he’s too bashful to go, until he decides to make a palace-patterned suit. “No one will even notice me!” he thinks. Except that it’s a garden party . . . and everyone notices Halibut.

Reading books must be returned on Thursday and will be swapped on Fridays.

Your child will either receive both a RWInc book and a RWInc book bag book based upon your child’s latest RWInc assessment. Once they are no longer using RWInc they will receive a book appropriate to their reading level and a ‘reading for pleasure’ self-chosen book.

Once your child is a confident reader they should concentrate on comprehension as well as understanding new vocabulary. As well as their school reading books, please encourage your child to read as widely as possible. The libraries in Eastham and Bromborough are now back open so you will be able to visit them for free books!

This half term we will be looking at celebrations that happen around the world. We will learn about the importance of celebrating life and how this is reflected in physical and mental health, community and family relationships and a healthy self-concept.

We begin the topic by exploring the celebrations we are already know about, leading onto an exploration into the vast array of celebrations that occur around the globe. The children will learn why celebrations hold significant meaning for people as they represent moments of joy, unity, and commemoration. For many individuals, celebrations provide an opportunity to express their beliefs, values, and cultural identity.
